چکیده

Two-dimensional (2D) honeycomb ferromagnets, such as monolayer chromium-trihalides, are predicted to behave topological magnon insulators - characterized by an insulating bulk and topologically protected edge states, giving rise a thermal Hall effect. Here we report the behavior of magnons in CrI$_3$ under external stimuli, including biaxial uniaxial strain, electric gating, well in-plane out-of-plane magnetic field, revealing that one can thereby tailor states size topology magnonic bandgap. These findings broaden perspective using 2D materials design devices.

Tunable Magnon Weyl Points in Ferromagnetic Pyrochlores.

The dispersion relations of magnons in ferromagnetic pyrochlores with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction are shown to possess Weyl points, i. e., pairs of topologically nontrivial crossings of two magnon branches with opposite topological charge. As a consequence of their topological nature, their projections onto a surface are connected by magnon arcs, thereby resembling closely Fermi arcs of e...

Tunable quantum dots in monolayer graphene

We examine a graphene quantum dot formed by combining an electric and a uniform magnetic field. The electric field creates a smooth quantum well potential while the magnetic field induces an exponential tail to the dot states. The states peak in the well and the electrostatic barrier region as a result of the Klein tunneling effect. Coupling between dot states which peak in different regions ca...

Electrically tunable magnetoplasmons in a monolayer of silicene or germanene.

We theoretically study electrically tunable magnetoplasmons in a monolayer of silicene or germanene. We derive the dynamical response function and take into account the effects of strong spin-orbit coupling (SOC) and of an external electric filed E(z) perpendicular to the plane of the buckled silicene/germanene. Employing the random-phase approximation we analyze the magnetoplasmon spectrum. Th...
